harry potterTanggal 8 September 2014, pihak peneliti pengguna facebook (Facebook Data Science) telah merilis hasil telitian mereka yang didasarkan pada ‘gerakan flash mob’ 10 buku yang paling berpengaruh dalam hidupmu. Gerakan flash mob ini tampak seperti main-main sebab orang hanya diminta untuk mencantumkan 10 buku yang berpengaruh dalam hidup mereka dan kemudian melakukan tagging pada beberapa teman. Sepintas tidak ada pertimbangan akan kualitas buku yang mereka cantumkan. Namun pertanyaan dasarnya adalah: apakah buku yang mempengaruhi hidup seseorang dapat dipastikan tidak punya kualitas tertentu?

Dari gerakan flash mob tersebut kemudian terbentuk jejaring irisan buku-buku yang dibaca seseorang dengan buku lain yang juga dibacanya. Sayangnya, pihak facebook menyampaikan bahwa sebagian peserta ‘permainan’ tersebut masih didominasi Amerika (63,7%) India (9,3%) dan Inggris (6,3%). Rata-rata usia peserta flash mob adalah 37 tahun dengan perbandingan jenis kelamin 3 perempuan, 1 laki-laki. Jumlah status yang diteliti mencapai 130.000 status terkait flash mob. Dari 500 buku terpopuler di dunia, tersisa 100 buku top versi facebook. Dan seri Harry Potter karya J.K Rowling menjadi buku teratas yang paling banyak dibaca (21,08)%, bahkan mengalahkan kitab suci yang bertengger di posisi ke-7 dengan 7,21% pemilih.
